Wild Edibles officially opened in October 1992, firmly dedicated to seeking out and making available the finest of all possible fish and more. The owners put a couple of thousand dollars together, bought a couple of ice chests, and began making deliveries in their own cars. They stored inventory at home.

In addition to their now-famous mammoth scallops, other signature items emerged almost immediately: wild Alaskan King Salmon, line-caught local fish, hand-picked Maine crabmeat, small-farm organic produce . . . word spread, customers came, customers stayed. By the start of 1993 they had bought themselves a van, rented a space, sprung for a 120 foot walk-in and began buying, processing and distributing all over Manhattan (no more Atlantic Cod next to the peanut butter and jelly!). In March of that same year Wild Edibles hired its first employee.
The owners soon realized that not everyone demanded or required the most exclusive or exotic product, but the need for top-quality freshness and the service to back it up existed in all categories. They decided to broaden their line to include the best they could find in the most asked-for items as well, such as farm-raised salmon, both conventional and organic, jumbo shrimp, Pacific halibut, and mahi-mahi. Filling the needs of their customers never meant compromising on quality.
This Murray Hill location opened in 2001 primarily as a retail store, but when sales of prepared food took off, it was re-tooled and re-launched as a seafood bistro and oyster bar in March 2007. The result has been big business.
Wild Edibles always strives to provide its customers with exactly what they want, when they want it. These key elements are the foundation that have served as the owners’ business philosophy since the company’s inception and will always guide their business practices. Wild Edibles looks forward to serving you!

I have previously recieved some excellent orders from Wild Edibles, so I am giving them a middling rating, rather than the very low rating the most recent delivery rated. The estimated delivery time was 15-30 minutes, but I waited an hour. This is a SIGNIFICANT issue with me. DO NOT LIE about delivery time. it matters. I was starving and eating stale crackers by the time the food came. I knew it would be cold, because food arriving significantly after schedule is ALWAYS cold. There really should be a way to reject this garbage up front. Because, yes, it was completely cold. After a few minutes in the microwave, it was edible, but not much more -- the fish pieces were very small and appeared to be trimmings rather than real pieces. Ick. From this place, at this price, I expect, and in the past have received, much better.

Fresh seafood.

Salmon was fresh and well prepared. Quick delivery. Portion size and food presentation were a little bit out of sync with price charged.

Really small portions, way too expensive for what you get.

The best delivered fish I have ever had, and maybe the best fish I have ever had. Incredible.

Great fresh seafood & fast delivery to T-Sq area

The basic grilled fish is always excellent. There is a great choice of marinades. The chowders are delicious. The mussels are very good, and everything else is just ok. The delivery time is poor. It's always a very long wait and the french fries are always cold and hard by the time they arrive.

There was a mix up with my order brought about by errors in delivery service which was not the fault of Wild Edibles but found this out only after almost 2 hours of waiting and after I made a negative review. I take the negative review back. Wild Edibles was very concerned about what happened to me and in fact called me the day after so we can discuss exactly what happened. I always buy from their store in Grand Central but this was the first time I ordered cooked food from them. I will order from them again soon.

mouthwatering, delicious seafood. I curse the very existence of mercury or I would order from here CONSTANTLY!

I ordered the shrimp and chips. Asking for lemon wedges I received one. 12 packets of Ketchup for a small portion of fries. A seafood restaurant should do better than one lemon wedge.

I ordered the linguini with clams. Cost more than other italian places but the clams were very fresh and good variety. I would order again.

Small portions; overpriced; pretty greasy.

Tuna was hard and tasteless. Rice was bland. Oysters were great.

Everytime I order from these guys, they get the job done. A large piece of fish, prepared well, and totally delicous. They are also much quicker than some of the other places I order from, which when you are starving is a large plus

Me and the missis were really craving for a good hot seafood chowder on a cold night. What we got instead was a cold white watery liquid with broccoli and some remenants of fish. Not even close. Did not even bother with the rest of the order.

Fresh fish is great, prepared not. That said, I regret not being able to shop at Wild Edibles--which I did at least twice a week-- since I learned of the labor dispute.

For $22 I got a very small bony and dry (overcooked) wild salmon steak with no side. The sides I ordered separately was a tiny portion (and I'm a woman who eats small portions ordinarily). Rather disappointing.

The portions were small, and the salmon was a bit overcooked. The overall experience was only average.
