Delivery and service were excellent. Food is awful

Americanized chinese dishes are not good at all, but the more traditional chinese dishes are good. (And spicy!)

AWFUL service - i ordered over an hour and a half ago and still haven't received my food. The woman answering the phone repeatedly told me to hold on and then hung up on me several times. When she finally let me get a word in she said, "very busy" an hung up.

The service is terrible. The delivery person is extremely rude. He literally was screaming at me in the lobby b/c he had to wait 10 minutes. In addition, he yelled at the end "don't order here again!" I mean, geez.

Rude service and less than mediocre food.

Soup dumplings were disappointing. Not to mention the delivery guy swung the take-out bag so much that a lot of sauce spilled over --all over the inside of the bag. Very rude. The Dan Dan noodles were very good---even after being in the fridge overnight.

Greasy and the chicken lunch was more onion than chicken. I used to be a fan of this place and love spicy szechuan, but this was a disappointment. I won't be ordering from them again.

This restaurant has to be one of the worst Chinese cuisine restaurants in Manhattan below 96th Street. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this poor joint, otherwise, you may never want to order any Chinese food from any other place for a long time.

Wow - was I disappointed in this food. I read alot of the reviews and there were alot of "best I've ever had" entries....not for me. I had the wonton soup and general tso's chicken - which was flagged as "hot and spicy" - not even close. The food was completely tasteless. Very disappointed.

sunday night, still waiting for my order, 48 minutes and counting; waiting...waiting....waiting. It took 50 minutes for the food to arrive. It was good though...and I liked the fried banana dessert.

Great, I keep ordering from here because it's the best chinese delivery around Murray Hill. Great taste, quality, and they follow all the write-in directions.

Delivery was really quick. Too bad the Orange Chicken was really bland and caked in excessive batter. I will not be ordering from here again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. honestly, i would put this in the worst 5 meals ive ever had in nyc. the sesame chicken was soggy, the noodles were cold, the diced cashew chicken was a disgusting grade of meat. awful awful awful awful. stay away

The chicken was mushy and would separate from the fried outside batter

the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Not just greasy or tasteless, but completely inedible!

I had the mafa tofu it use to be good but this time it lacked spice and the egg soup was also flat.

I wanted steamed chicken and broccoli. I got it the order drenched with sauce and the broccoli was not fresh. Hot and sour soup was watery. The delivery person also asked me for more tip. Most Chinese take out are the same, so this spot is nothing special. I can try another place.

being the FOB that i am... it's a pleasant surprise to find this place that has some of the pretty authentic dishes.. like loofah, sour beans, and they braise stuff pretty authentically. i've been ordering from them and they make me pretty happy :)

Food was mediocre. Egg drop soup had no flavor; ordered seafood soup with cellophane noodles and got udon noodles. Crab and pork soup dumplins were flavorful but came so late that the wonton had gotten cold and hard by the time the food arrived. Also there was no soy or duck sauce...

With the veritable bevy of chinese restaurants to choose from in NYC how is one to pick? At the recommendation of a friend I tried Grand Sichuan on a whim. EXACTLY on par. Let me not mince my words this is by no means authentic chinese food it is american chinese at its finest. The moo shu chicken was so good not at all overly salted as the dish can often be. The vegetable dumplings are wonderful. If you are having trouble deciding which chinese food to order....def give this spot a try!!

Ordered twice from the resturant. The first time they delivered the wrong food, had to wait for another hour to get it right; the second time, it took them more than an hour to deliver the food.

Soup dumplings are great as always. Spicy beef very spicy and delicious. Always quick and consistent in quality. It's still chinese takeout, but taste and quality feels like it's 2 notches above every other chinese delivery I've had in NYC. Highly recommended.

Hot Pot is the most famous and favorite dish in Chongqing. Chongqing local people consider the Hot Pot a local specialty, noted for its peppery and hot taste, which is scalding yet fresh and tender.
People gather around a small pot, boiled by charcoal, electric, or gas, and filled with a flavorful and nutritious soup base. You have a choice of spicy, pure or a combo for the soup base. Thinly sliced raw meats, fishs, various bean curd products, and all kinds of vegetables are boiled in the soup base. The are then dipped in a little bowl of special sauce. Be careful, since the spicy soup base is burning hot.
First eaten by poor boatmen of the Yangtze River in Chongqing area and then spread westwards to the rest of Sichuan, now is a very popular local flavor and can be found in every corner of the city.
There are a great variety of Hot Pots, including Yueyang Hotpot, Four Tastes Hot Pot, Yashan Hot Pot and Fish Head Hot Pot. If you are adventurous enough, you can basically cook anything with Hot Pot, even pig's brain and duck's kidney.
Chongqing people love their Hot Pot, especially when the weather is steamy. The fire dances under the pot, the heavily oiled and spiced soup boils with hazy steam, and the people are bathed in sweat. Although Hot Pot can be found wherever there are street vendors or small restaurants, Chongqing Hot Pot has the greatest variety and is known for its delicious soup base and dipping sauce.
Varieties of Chongging Hot Pot offered at Grand Sichuan NY:
Kung Pao Chicken
Tea Smoked Duck
Double Cooked Pork
Chong Qing Spicy Chicken
