Akdeniz was opened two years ago by Mike Kocak, Murat Aktas, and Suleyman Yeniler. Each member of the trifecta brings something “to the table.” Mike is an established restaurateur, owning Sahara’s Grill, Sahara’s Turkish, and Pasam (in Brooklyn). Murat has worked as a waiter and manager in several restaurants in the city. He immigrated from Istanbul, Turkey in 1999, and works at Akdeniz for more than fifteen hours every day from nine in the morning until closing. Suleyman is behind the scenes producing the delicious cuisine and has more than seven years of chef experience.
If you visit Akdeniz on a weekday, especially for lunch, don’t mind the wait (as the restaurant is usually “filled to the gills”) because you’ll soon realize why this little place has such a following.

Baklava—Baked thin layers of filo dough stuffed with pistachios, flavored with lemon and orange zest light syrup
Very, very good food and a decent amount. They estimated delivery time to be between 45 & 60 minutes and they took 60 minutes to deliver but the food was hot so no complaints. I would absolutely order from them again. Even the bread was nice and crusty but soft.

I must have ordered over a dozen times from this place and the food never fails to impress me. My 2 favorites are the Chicken Shish Kebab platter and the Greek salad, and if order a side of chicken, they REALLY add chicken, lots of it! The food always tastes delicious and fresh and the delivery is pretty quick. I like the food from this place so much that I actually took my husband there for dinner and he loved it too. The could work on lowering the minimum delivery from $15.00 to $10.00 though!

This is the best, freshest Middle Eastern food I have found from about 6 other "middle eastern" restaurants mid-town. Perfect roast eggplant salad (and the Babaganooj was very good, too) and an excellent chicken kebab sandwich. They have dishes (lebni, etc.) not typically found elsewhere.

I was expecting a lot better from this Turkish restaurant on the flavor of grilled lamb cubes since it had received good reviews a couple years ago. Lamb was extremely mild, to almost bland and tasteless. I ordered the kabob wrap which was also nearly void of any salad greens. Not worth money spent, but perhaps it was a bad day for this restaurant - might also be willing to give it a "2nd chance".

I love this place. We order at the office all the time. The servings are huge and you really get a lot for you money. Pretty fast delivery too.

Delivery was SUPER fast! Didn't wait more than 15 min. Portion size was great - I ordered the mixed cold appetizer platter and had plenty left over to keep for lunch the next day! The apps were delicious, everything was fresh and tasty, and the bread accompanying was good too - and they gave a good amount of it, enough for the large apps portion. Overall excellent experience, will definitely order from Akdeniz again!

You can't go wrong with Akdeniz, definitely the best in portions and mediterrean food on seamless. Lamb shish dinner is a fully loaded plate of rice, salad, and juicy meat. The bread is amazing, always ordering extra to bring home. Delivery time is always fast too.

Wonderful food... simply wonderful food as far as takeouts go. And delivery time was minimal so if you're in the mood for middle-eastern meat and rice style food-- this is is the way to go
