Blending the traditional with the eclectic, Fort Greene is now home to one of Brooklyn’s most outstanding Turkish Restaurants: Deniz! They focus on Mediterranean and Turkish fare that is crisp, bold in flavor and satisfying. Come enjoy their traditional stuffed grape leaves, hummus and eggplant salad for starters, and then move on to their wide range of seafood, fish and meat kebabs for a great meal. Heartier Turkish fare such as dumplings filled with lamb and onions are cooked to perfection, and for those weary of Middle Eastern flavors, a handful of Italian-style pastas are also available. So for your next meal, come and try out Deniz!
Eggplant Salad (Patlican Salatasi)—Char-grilled eggplant puree seasoned with garlic, red pepper, dill, red onion, lemon and olive oil
Grilled Octopus Salad—Char-grilled fresh octopus, tomato, red onions and mixed green salad tossed with olive oil and lemon juice
Chicken Piccata—Chicken breast, asparagus and Mozzarella cheese in a white wine sauce
Marinated Ribeye—Served with French fries and sautéed vegetables
Seafood stuffed Flounder—Stuffed flounder; served baked and with a mixed green salad
Deniz Combination Seafood Platter—Broiled sole, shrimp, scallops and salmon; served with mixed green salad
While the chicken kabobs we ordered from here were all right, the asparagus cous cous and tabouli were completely inedible.

falafel plate was hot and fresh...def. worth it. great hummus. lamb shish was tres nice...except for the raw onions (but that's just me)...altogether great deal on a cold, hungry night!

falafel had no flavor, and only had hummus. for 12 bucks. back in sf at ali baba's cave.. you'd get rice, hummus, tabouleh, a bunch of pita, and all that falafel for 8. deniz is not worth it.

Almost everything I've had here has been delicious. The kebabs are very good, the stuffed chicken and shrimp casserole entree are very good. I love and often get the manti - the lamb dumplings in yogurt sauce. With every meal I usually get the spinach tarator, which is great with the fluffy bread they send with every order. The only thing I didn't particularly enjoy were the zucchini pancakes which were kind of soggy by the time I got them, and just a little oily overall. Also, the staff at the restaurant and the delivery guys are always very cordial and friendly. It takes 30-45 mins to get your order, but that's pretty reasonable and definitely within the time frame they tell you.

I was surprised by how good this place is. A welcome new restaurant in the neighborhood. The chicken kebab is the best in the area. Hot sauce is great. And although usually cold (but still fresh) by the time it gets here, i'm sure the bread they include is great when you eat in.
