The seasoned head chef, Laura Lam, specializes in Southeast Asian cuisine, and blends Easten cooking techniques with techniques from the Western hemisphere. Ms. Lam is gifted with the ability to combine spices, meats, seafood and vegetables in such a way that the flavors dance on your palate. In addition, SAFRAN’s bartender will prepare unique drinks to fit whatever you desire. Your dining at SAFRAN will be a truly delightful experience.

Laura Lam is SAFRAN’s seasoned head chef. Ms. Lam graduated from the School of Home Economics. She spent many years at the Rainbow Room, and managed Monsoon Restaurant in the Upper West Side for over a decade. The Monsoon Restaurant, which received rave reviews from critics, was the first true-to-tradition Vietnamese restaurant in Manhattan. To improve her skills, Ms. Lam continues to take regular trips to Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China to swap methods with local chefs.
Ms. Lam has loved cooking since she was a child in Saigon, Vietnam. She inherited her grandmother’s traditional recipes. Her cooking style blends Eastern and Western techniques. Her specialty is combining spices, fine wine, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood with special sauces to bring out colorful and delicious flavors in each dish. One can enjoy Ms. Lam’s cuisine with anything from small appetizers to big banquets. Ms. Lam designs exclusive dishes to fit individual tastes.
Pan Seared Filet of Sole—Served with tamarind chili reduction, fried shallots, scallions, and dill
Mekong River Prawns—Stir fried with garlic, butter and peppercorns, served with a lemon dipping sauce and tea noodles
Seafood Bouillabaisse—Hot and sour seafood broth with prawns, scallops, fish, mussels, calamari, clams, tamarind and aromatic herbs
Grilled Rack of Lamb—Marinated with dill and lemongrass, served with a string bean and mushroom salad and tamarind sauce
Duck Breast Confit—Slow cooked in a red wine and citrus sauce, served with balsamic honey glazed foie gras and a caramel pear
24 oz Porterhouse—Garnished with mixed greens and baby vegetables
Chicken breast is grilled with the skin still on, making it very greasy. Not what you expect when you order "grilled chicken breast". Not edible for my taste.

Absolute delish...and fast, careful delivery. The Cha Gio rolls and Mango Beef Salad are yummy. But glazed ribs were small, dry, and over~salty.

worst quality I've have had-I ordered the grilled fish of the day. the fish taste was just ok, and also i have the worse food poisining I've ever had. I will never eat from here, ever.

consistently good southeast Asian food! the shrimp and grapefruit salad is delicious, so are the fried spring rolls. and love their chicken soup that comes with the dinner special.
