Orange, red, and fuschia drum lights are snuggled together throughout the long dining room, and painted panels of mint, yellow, and green hang over striped banquettes. There is also a semi-private room complete with audio/video equipment that seats twelve.
Mint is a labor of love for Gary Sikka, and he takes great pride in creating an exemplary dining experience in an atmosphere that is both tranquil and exhilarating. The definition of mint is “an aromatic refreshing herb that serves as a central ingredient in accompaniment sauces in Indian cuisine.” It is true that the new restaurant is just like its namesake.
Besides being a successful businessman, owner Gary Sikka is a chef with eighteen years of culinary experience. His goal is to create an Indian restaurant that celebrates the food of the North and the South, and present it in a way that the dining public of New York will relate to it. To achieve this goal, Mr. Sikka has found young culinary talent who have worked in some of New York’s finest Indian restaurants.
Just as young American chefs have progressed American cuisine, this team, under Mr. Sikka’s guidance, is spearheading a campaign to bring an exciting and fresh approach to Indian cooking. His goal is to create a restaurant that celebrates the vibrant flavors of contemporary India, while paying tribute to its rich culinary heritage.

Top notch Indian. Hard to find midtown Indian spots with excellent delivery. This one is good, and let's hope it stays that way.

Mint is not a traditional Indian restaurant, but it's modern flourishes, like sleek banquettes and sexy lighting, definitely work. Luckily, Chef and Owner Gark Sikka also stays true to the finest aspects of Indian cuisine but does so with a more elegant presentation than many Indian restaurants in the area. The curtained area in the back is also ideal for a group dinner.

Cool place--lots of funky lighting inside and long banquettes to sit at. Not a very big restaurant, but cozy feeling. Food was good...had the chicken tikka salad which combined my 2 favorites: chicken tikka and honey mustard dressed salad. Was delish. Good bar too...fun drinks and fun bartender.
