Welcome to Matsu Sushi, the premiere destination for quality yet affordable sushi in midtown Manhattan. They take extreme pride in providing their customers each day with only the freshest fish in all of their dishes. The menu features a wide variety of your favorite sushi rolls and sashimi, along with a diverse assortment of tempura and teriyaki dishes. At Matsu Sushi they guarantee your satisfaction, so whether dining in or ordering out, they are always a wise choice to satisfy your Japanese food cravings!
Tatsuta Age—Japanese style fried chicken
Ika Maruyaki—Barbecue Japanese squid
Tri Color Sashimi—Twelve pieces
Matsu Roll—Shrimp tempura, cucumber, tobiko with eel and avocado on the top
Lover Roll—Spicy tuna, avocado inside with tuna on the top
The food wasn't particularly good, and everything was poorly packaged. By the time the food was delivered, the bottom of the bag was leaking tempura sauce, and it got on all the other boxes. I ordered a 3-roll maki combo, age-tofu and tempura ice cream. The fish in the rolls didn't seem very fresh, and the sauce of one roll had spread over to the others, so everything sort of tasted the same.

Very good value sushi dining for NYC... served by a no nonsense (courteous, prompt, responsive) staff if you dine in their modest establishment (yet even their down-right quick delivery crew always has a smile for you). They offer some unique & delightful Special Rolls, as well as some unusual, yet authentic, choices for appetizers. Matsu's menu otherwise offers fairly standard options for Japanese fare. The fish is always fresh; and while perhaps not generously proportioned, their cuts are still larger than average & always adequately filling. I've come to appreciate this most notably with lunch-time orders, as most sushi joints will skimp on their daytime service, providing a much thinner slice of meat. In contrast, at Matsu... I've noticed no difference in value or quality between lunch & dinner meals. This restaurant is a top choice for me when looking for a quick, healthy & modest dining experience at a low price point.

While I admire the punctuality of the delivery, I must say that the quality of the sushi was well below par. In fact, the sushi that I ordered probably was the worst sushi that I have ever eaten. I do not mean to disparage the restaurant, and it may have been an anomaly, but everything I ordered, from the Philadelphia roll to the complimentary California roll was, unfortunately, terrible. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant, as least inasmuch as take-out/delivery maki rolls are concerned.

This Japanese restaurant clearly owned and operated by Chinese individuals, but they are fast and cheap. Their food, though not authentic in any way, isn't offensive. But I might suggest that they check the recipes for such basic items as tatsuta age and yosenabe because consumers in NYC are sophisticated people and these small "misrepresentations" are enough to prevent them from coming back to this restaurant.

Ordered mackerel sashimi. The mackerel came fully cooked, and they gave it with rice even though I asked to have it without rice.

I ordered at 11:30 on a Monday: This place was delicious, and what a steal! 3 rolls for only $9! The sushi was fresh and just the right size, the salad dressing was amazing (a little more lemony than the usual Japanese Ginger). It came with all the necessary utensils. The delivery guy smelled kind of bad but otherwise I have zero complaints!
