Eight years ago, a group of culturally diverse people decided to open a restaurant uptown that served traditional Chinese cuisine. Lili’s Noodle and Grill opened on 85th Street and 3rd Avenue, specializing in Cantonese roasted meat. Later, they further expanded their menu to include Japanese sushi options, and, finally, other Asian entrees.

The second restaurant opened in Battery Park City and remained in business briefly, until closing for nine months after 9/11. Lili’s made a commitment to the Downtown area and reopened to see a surge in business from nearby offices.
Lili’s 57th was the next restaurant to open, and caters to the Midtown corporate market that seeks delicious Chinese cuisine.

Honestly I gave them a couple chances, but I'm now im starting to wonder how they stay in business. First time I ordered the General Tso's and the quality of chicken was HORRIBLE, it was all fat and dough no white meat at all. It was tough to swallow. Next a meal that's always my favorite any where I go is Pad Thai and they managed to make this as TERRIBLE. Absolutely no taste, it tasted like dry noodles. I give credit when it's due unfortunately this place doesn't deserve it at all.

Good Chinese food, reliable service and quick delivery.

Think they changed the chef recently (perhaps since Aug 09). Signature dishes such as general's chicken just do not taste the same.

Horrible experience! This is the WORST Chinese restaurant I think I can ever find in the U.S.! I myself can cook way much better than them. How can they call themselves a restaurant? PLUS, their delivery man actually tried to open my door without even a knock or ringing the doorbell!!! Will NEVER order from them again!

I ordered Lo Mein and paid extra to have chicken and vegetables included and basically it hardly had any of either.

5 out of 6 times i've been pleased. overall satisfying but the lo mien sauce grossed my room mate and i out last time, it was real gooey. don't think i'll be able to order anything but the fried rice from there again, the fried rice with no egg + tofu is real good.

I LOVE LILI's. Got for dinner and had to have the next day for lunch. LOVE the crispy chicken dishes. Loved the sesamee wonton. They use incredibly flavorful ingredients. WOW. The best I've ever had!!!!

Average at best. Chinese food is certainly not their specialty. The General Tso's was disappointing, as was the Wonton Soup.

Food is great, delivery is very quick.. But no matter how many times i ask for them to deliver brown rice instead of white rice ( ive ordered from them at least 20 time thru seamless web ) they always without fail deliver white rice.. This is very frustrating..

That was a waste of money. The entire meal went into the trash. Why: (1) The Wonton Soup was off. The broth is NOT supposed to taste that way. And discovering hair in it? Fantastic. (2) The usual soup noodles are pre packaged and stale and disgusting (3) The beef and broccoli - slimy meat (why was this mysterious slime/gel included in the sauce?), broccoli was fresh and plentiful, but covered in the slimy grease/soy sauce combination.Oh, and the meat was GRAY (4) The bubble tea was LOADED with almond flavor to the point it was undrinkable (5) Even the fortune cookie at the end was stale AND my fortune was an unintelligible fragment of a sentence Oh, and it took almost an HOUR to deliver.

Terrible - chicken was disgusting and fatty, dish was not spicy and was supposed to be. My yellowtail/scallion roll had NO scallion and each maki piece came fallen open.

They need to improve their food. I've had better wonton's when I make them from frozen packages.

We've been Lili's regulars for years. If we weren't eating there, we'd order from them at least 2x a week. It's been a few weeks since our last order when we ordered vegetable dumplings that were not ateable. This week we ordered the beef udon soup (something we've ordered many, many times in the past), the broth was so incredibly spicy and oily, not to mention it smelled just terrible too. I called the restaurant and was told they have a new chef, I then expressed my dissatisfaction with the soup, which was basically of no concern to the person who answered the phone. I guess Lili's doesn't need our business, and we certainly will not be ordering from them any time soon.

We tried the noodle bowls. We ordered one with chicken and one bowl with beef. The one good thing: the bowls include spinach and bean spouts. The bad stuff: the meat was old, the noodles were soggy, the broth was tasteless, the beef was almost all fat, like the cheapest cut they could buy. The chicken had no taste, even though being a week old, it should tasted like something. I could go on, but I won't. Our experience was unfavorable and will not be repeated. ever.

Ordered the pork pad thai for the first time; it was the worst pad thai I have ever eaten anywhere. It was gluey, tasteless, lacking the refined sauce, spices, etc... found in a properly made Thai pad thai. It was made in a Chinese style.

The most awful customer service. Have absolutely NO idea how to treat regular customers. Have been ordering for two years - will never use again.

Mr. Chong is of Chinese descent, but grew up in Malaysia. He learned to make his own noodles by age seven. When Lili's originally opened, Chong wanted to capitalize on New Yorkers’ love for the Chinese cuisine by offering traditional dishes like Shrimp with Chinese Eggplant and Classic Egg Rolls (and of course, signature noodle dishes like Chow Fun).
Chong quickly realized he could also offer something new and different by looking to his birthplace, influenced by the cooking styles of the Dutch, Portuguese and British, in addition to the cuisines of its neighbors, like Thailand. What has materialized on the lengthy menu at Lili’s is the tastiest, most diverse and authentic representation of “Asian Fusion” east of the South China Sea.
