Nick Kenner and Rob Crespi were tired of the options available to them for lunch in Midtown Manhattan. So, instead of continuing to settle, they set off to develop a restaurant concept that would serve a healthy, fast and creative alternative. To make sure that Just Salad would serve only the best salads in the world, Nick and Rob sought the expertise of Chef Laura Pensiero.

Already world-renowned for her inventive and nutritious cooking, Chef Laura joined Just Salad after founding Chef4Life, a provider of healthy and delicious solutions for life-long improvements in diet while still stressing the importance of enjoying food. She guaranteed Nick and Rob that Just Salad would stay true to its mission: offering a meal that would be both healthy and delicious. Chef Laura designed the Just Salad menu from front to back, creating twenty-seven unique dressings and eleven enticing combinations of toppings now known as Just Salad's Chef Designed Salads.
In May of 2005, after two years of research and preparation, Just Salad opened its doors to the public on Fifty-First Street and Park Avenue in New York City. It was an immediate sensation. Such a sensation, in fact, that a sister store opened only eight months later at 134 West Thirty-Seventh Street.
Every detail of Just Salad was thought out carefully. Customers enjoy everything from the food to the music to the environmentally friendly bowls. Shipments of fresh ingredients are delivered every morning, so the patrons are kept happy, always knowing that they are getting the freshest possible meal.

Laura Pensiero is the chef and creator of the Just Salad Menu. Laura has worked hard to develop a menu that is healthy, fun and unique.
Laura is a culinary and health professional whose expertise spans a diverse range of the food and health industries. A graduate of the French Culinary Institute, Laura is also a Registered Dietitian, cookbook author, health educator, spokesperson, nutrition and culinary consultant and the proprietor of Gigi Trattoria and Gigi Market in the Hudson Valley.
In founding Chef4Life, Laura has forged a unique path, integrating her knowledge of nutrition with her culinary training and appreciation of food. Her creative flair and practical approach for helping people alter their eating habits and cooking methods has become widely recognized. She co-authored Strang Cancer Prevention Center Cookbook to create healthy, tasty, easy-to-prepare recipes, and was selected as one of O, Oprah Magazine’s most “Gifted and Giving” food professionals in the May 2005 fifth anniversary issue. I enjoy Just Salad several times a week. The menu has a wide range of tasty options and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. When I take-out, the staff is always friendly and efficient. When I order from Seamless Web, my food arrives in less than 20 minutes.

It has been some time since I received a salad without brown and limp lettuce from Just Salad. These used to be great salads but today I couldn't find one piece of lettuce in my bowl that was free from brown/orange signs of age. The price of salads at Just Salad can no longer be justified by the quality of the food.

I will never order from here again. after waiting one hour and a half for my salad, it's tiny. It looks like they put the head of lettuce without chopping it and the portions are tiny.

great, fresh salads but terrible service. delivery people call 15 min away so that they don't have to wait for you in the lobby only to have you wait downstairs for them. when you get a call, best not to pick up the order immediately.

The food here is pretty decent but the service is absolutely horrible. The delivery men are rude! I ordered a soup today and it was delivered cold, not even warm. On top of that they have no preception of time. I asked for 12pm delivery and they delivered it before 11. I was not at my desk and the delivery guy got upset at me for having to wait 2 minutes. Never ordering from here again, there service is consistently terrible.

Food was good but over-priced. I ordered a bottle of water for $2.50 and expected that it would be a liter since it was so expensive, and instead received a 500ml bottle. Ridiculous!

This vendor is located one block away from the office yet it took 1.5 hours for delivery and an additional 1 hr when the food order received was returned and replaced. I ordered a salad which was wilty and also the bowl was half filled. The chips I ordered were substituted with regular potato chips at $2.25 a bag. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS VENDOR. Horrible service and horrible Food!

for just a salad-it takes about 2 hours for delivery-good luck if you're hungry
The salads are pretty good, though realistically, probably more expensive than they need to be. However, I love their chilled avocado dressing so put up with. Also, the salads are getting considerably smaller, at least if you use their reusable signature salad bowls. Side by side there's a very noticable difference. Also, the bread is ridiculous. It's just s strip. It's pretty useless. As I type this I realize that I probably should stop going there...

Their salads are the best as they have the most ingredients and dressings to choose from. Also, they have reusable bowls which is environmentally unique in restaurants these days.
