These multi-regional Chinese restaurants are owned and operated by Dorothea and Felix Wu, along with their son Albert, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. While New York City is home to many Chinese restaurants, China Fun is different from the competition in several important ways.
One of the biggest differences is the food. Whereas most Chinese restaurants have one chef who oversees the kitchen, China Fun has four, each of whom specializes in a different part of the menu. One chef is in charge of Cantonese BBQ dishes, another in charge of Cantonese dim sum specialties, a third, Northern dim sum offerings and a fourth, wok-cooked dishes. Recently, they added a fifth toque to their team, a sushi chef in order to accommodate those who crave Japanese options. What’s more, China Fun insists upon using the best ingredients and not taking short cuts. They use live Maine lobsters and prepare all baked goods and barbecued items in-house (unlike most Chinese restaurants, which purchase them from third parties in Chinatown). They even smoke their own meat (in traditional Chinese smokers) at each branch.
Finally, the staff, from hostesses to delivery men, is courteous and attentive, and they treat patrons as individuals, not order numbers. China Fun greatly values their customers, and it shows.

Filet Mignon Chinese Style—Sliced steak wok-tossed with onions in a sweet tomato-based sauce
Shredded Pork—Sautéed with dry bean curd and winter bamboo shoots in spicy bean paste sauce

Vegetable Deluxe—Consists of three kinds of vegetables prepared three different ways; Chinese eggplant in garlic sauce, string beans in white sauce and fresh mushrooms in curry sauce
The food was average. The dumplings were quite doughy....but then again some people are into that. The food overall was a bit greasy for our taste.

Terrible delivery service. Consistently late and very rude when you call to ask about a delay. Food very average

Cold food and way overpriced. 16 bucks for a general tsao's tofu. Extra dollar for vegetables. This restaurant has a lot of nerve. And it took more than 40 minutes to deliver the food when their wait time here said 15-20 minutes.

The weekend specialties and dim sum parts of the menu are pretty good for the UWS. The food is authentic (though not always well made). Delivery folks are FAST and very sweet. Downside: weekday lunch specials and most other parts of the menu are pretty much your stereotypical brown sauce gringo-ized Chinese offerings -- i.e. not all that great and only nominally authentic. Re: Japanese dishes -- the katsu is nicely fried and actually very good. Sashimi, not so much. The rice in the maki rolls isn't badly seasoned.

Good, Dependable, cheap, open late... what more could you want?

Kung Pao chicken was awful. Too many peanuts and chewy chunks of chicken were complimented by an awful brown sauce. I also payed and extra dollar to have 6 pieces of brocolli added, which were not crunchy but overcooked.

The only thing good about my order is that it was hot! It was greasy and loaded with salt. I ordered fried jumbo shrimp- The batter was an inch thick with no shrimp and a ton of sesame seeds. The sesame chicken was loaded with a think salty sauce and the wonton noodles in my soup tasted fun. I would never order from China not so fun again :( I feel sick. I will say though since ordering from seamless web- delivery people are much nicer and don't bark at you if you don't give them a huge tip

I ordered twice from here. The singapore noodle and old shanghai rice cake comes with EXTREMELY few pieces of meat/ vegetable, and A LOT of carbs (noodle, rice cake). Its really cheap of them. I'm not even a big meat eater but the ratio is just appalling. I feel like i'm just eating plain noodle. I'm shanghainese myself and this is not the way it works. Come on, be a bit more generous since we are paying $10+ on each dish!

Contents of vegetable dumplings were tasty but mysterious. Vegetarian stir-fry had good mix of vegetables.

The food had no flavour. No fun at all until we added lots of soy.

The food was ok, about average for UWS chinese. I had Dim Sum dishes, which were ok, but not great. I tried a spicey White Salmon Maki and was very dissapointed. It was dry and chopped up, so no sizeable fish pieces in it. The site claimed a 15-30 delivery time, but the food took just over 65 minutes to deliver. It was not totally hot when it arrived. I felt a little cheated here, but I might give it another try at the restaurant hoping it was a delivery issue more than anything else.

I had always enjoyed China Fun, but this time our delivery was missing 1/2 of the items and after a 10 min call between the delivery man and the restaurant, they agreed to send the other part of the order which arrived over an hour later. The food was cold and tasteless. I will not order from here again.
